Solidarity Winnipeg supports UMFA members on strike!

Solidarity Winnipeg supports members of the University of Manitoba Faculty Association (UMFA) in their strike against their employer and will continue to stand with UMFA members on the picket line!

See below on where to join picket line and other ways to support.

Solidarity Winnipeg has members from UMFA who are on strike along with students directly organizing student solidarity through the Student Action Network (UMSAN) and Students Supporting UMFA.

UMSAN has gathered over 500 signatures of students supporting UMFA and are holding teach-ins on the picket line.

We have CUPE 3909 members involved in Solidarity Winnipeg who have been active on the picket line.

Solidarity Winnipeg unanimously adopted support for UMFA on Nov. 5 and are calling on others to support UMFA on the picket line.

So far there has been good support for UMFA members, but strikes are difficult and need continued support to win this fight.

We encourage people to support UMFA members on the picket line, which will occur Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm, until an agreement is reached between members and the employer.

There are 4 picket lines at the Fort Garry campus:

Chancellor Matheson Rd @ Pembina Hwy,
University Crescent North,
University Crescent South,
and King's Drive.

On the Bannatyne campus, the picket line is at 727 McDermot Ave (outside the Brodie Centre).

We hope UMFA members are successful in their strike and others in Winnipeg (and beyond) are inspired to take direct action to change their schools, workplaces, and communities.
