What's going on? If you want to learn more, this Solidarity Winnipeg event is for you.
The purpose of this event is to begin training Solidarity Winnipeg members so that our organization is better equipped to advocate for our vision and defend against austerity in the wider community.
This is a chance for our members to gain a deeper understanding of austerity and Solidarity Winnipeg's Mission and for us to answer each other's questions. We want everyone feeling prepared and able to answer the tough questions like:
"Don't we have to cut the deficit?" or "I can't afford to pay higher taxes"? --- We'll put our heads together and talk about it.
After a short presentation and discussion led by labour studies prof David Camfield, we are going to work together to develop a short "austerity information session" program.
We intend to adapt this program for a variety of settings moving forward. These include union meetings, small house gatherings, community presentations, and an online tutorial. The point is for us to have a tool kit (including a power point presentation, facilitator guide, handouts and exercises) that any of our members can use how they see fit. The ideas generated at the meeting will help us complete this project.
Most importantly, please take a moment to RSVP below. we look forward to seeing you on March 2nd.
